Blizzard tosses Priest racials out the window
In an effort to further balance the game, Koraa levitated over to the Priest Beta forums to drop the bomb that Blizzard was canning all Priest racial abilities in an upcoming Beta build. This comes long after Fear Ward, formerly a Dwarf racial ability for Priests, was made baseline and trainable at Level 20. However, Koraa makes a few important points, the most notable being that Desperate Prayer, the Human and Dwarf Priest racial ability, will become the 11-point talent for Holy. Holy Nova, on the other hand, will become baseline. Desperate Prayer will likely be retuned to better fit an 11-point talent (it currently has a 10 minute cooldown).
Koraa adds that the formerly Undead Priest racial Devouring Plague will also become a baseline spell, with a reduced cooldown of 30 seconds (down from 3 minutes) and “greatly reduced” mana cost. The Draenei racial ability Symbol of Hope will be renamed Hymn of Hope and also become a baseline ability, now restoring 5% of total mana every 2 seconds for 8 seconds to the priest’s party

Official WoW costumes for Halloween
Have you ever wanted to be a fearsome Orc? Maybe you wanted to wear your Season 2 Warrior helmet out on the street? Or maybe you figured it was time you need to dual-wield WoW’s legendary weapons in real life, like some other folks? Gosh, maybe you just want pointy ears.
Turns out, this Halloween is going to be your chance. Not only do you get to enjoy the real world holiday in game, but you get to enjoy the game in your real world holiday. Amythys of Mug’Thol tipped us off that Costumes Inc. has a series of licensed World of Warcraft costumes on sale. Licensed means they’re official and for real — note that the artwork on the ears is Blizzard’s own art.
Some of them are obviously tailored to be friendly to folks who don’t know the game. The Season 2 Warrior helmet mask is titled as the “Wild Beastman Mask.” And, oddly, there are three versions of the Arcanite Reaper — one handed, standard, or long. Thunderfury makes an appearance, and it looks sweet. Of course, there’s requisite elf ears

The Light and How to Swing It: Bracing for change
We know a second pass is coming. As good — or bad — as everything might seem right now, Paladins have yet to get another look from the developers and as Ghostcrawler mentioned on the forums earlier, they’re nearing finalizing those changes soon. A few days back, Blizzard asked the players for feedback on all three trees, and it looks like all those constructive comments are finally going to see some results.
The good thing is that, despite all our misgivings about how the class has been handled all these years, it seems that Blizzard is finally listening. Holy wanted ways to be more mobile and have group healing utility… the Wrath Beta brings creative ways to solve that with instant Holy Lights and double duty healing. Protection needed stat consolidation badly, for starters, and it’s slowly moving that way with Stamina granting spell power through Touched by the Light. Retribution needed raid utility among other things, and Blizzard is shaping up the spec to be a mana battery like Shadow Priests (and

Level Two – Three
Complete a few quests, kill a few beasts, and just as you’re getting warmed up, you’ll reach level 2. Go and find your class trainer, where you will learn your next class ability, Mark of the Wild.
At level 2, Mark of the Wild gives you or any friendly target you cast it on +25 Armor for 30 minutes. This is your first ‘Druid buff’. You should make it a habit to always have Mark of the Wild cast on yourself, and whenever you group with anyone cast it on them as well. Very friendly Druids cast MotW on folks all the time, because at each higher rank it gains more power, and it is highly beneficial to all classes.
Your Mark of the Wild gives you a bit more armor, but your combat routine remains unchanged. Continue your questing, getting used to maneuvering to extreme casting range, blasting with Wrath and getting used to your mana regeneration rates.

Blizzard and the hidden population of disabled players
A Dwarf Priest has a nice long post up about the relationship between Blizzard and one of the more hidden (and yet surprisingly large) groups within their population: disabled gamers. It’s no secret to anyone who’s played WoW for a while that a lot of disabled gamers have found a lot of solace in a social game where you can be almost completely anonymous and play a character at whatever pace you want to play. Even if you go with the lowest of estimations, there are about 525,000 people playing the game with some kind of disability in real life. That’s a much bigger number than I expected, and it’s a significant number of people paying Blizzard every month.
Fortunately, Dwarf Priest found that accessibility is relatively good in Blizzard’s game — most of the work is actually done with third-party addons, but the UI and display is so customizable that even with the default interface, many people without a full range of controls or movement can figure out how to play the game. For their part,

All about alchemy in the beta
Seeing as how Alchemy is not yet officially implemented in the Wrath beta, we don’t know all of what’s in store for the masters of elixirs, flasks, potions, and transmutation. However, we can get some idea, given that the spells themselves seem to be in the game files, so we know the names of some alchemy spells and products, if not their actual effects (though some recipes are easy enough to guess).
· Flask of Endless Rage
· Flask of Pure Mojo
· Flask of Stoneblood
· Flask of the Frost Wyrm
That’s it for new flasks so far, though I wouldn’t be surprised if more were to come. Endless Rage looks pretty easy to guess at what it does, but I don’t have much of a clue on the other three. Any ideas? The mats for them follow the same pattern as the mats for old-world and BC

Unholy
There’s some disagreement on how you might describe the Unholy tree — is it a tree of choices, or a tree of bloat? Especially with the proposed changes, Unholy is a tree with a lot of little talents at various tiers that may or may not actually be worth taking, such as Epidemic (especially since it will no longer include Ghoul diseases). But all those little choices do add up after a while, and it really seems like a few of them might need a bit of consolidation.
One nice thing about the new changes is that it does seem like Unholy may get back some of the AE damage and AE tanking potential it lost when Death and Decay was nerfed in damage a few builds back. Morbidity (which is mislabeled on the current talent tree calculator) will reduce the cooldown on Death and Decay and the runic power cost of Death Coil. Being able to semi-spam Death and Decay again, assuming the cooldown reduction is significant, maybe make Unholy the tree of choice for AE Tanking too. You can also combine this with the talent Outbreak, which will increase the damage done by Pestilence and Blood

Atlantica Online First Impressions
I’m not a fan of RTS games. There, I said it. Shoot me now. *grins* Now that I’ve said it, however, I’ve got to admit that I’ve had a good time playing Atlantica Online and I am pleasantly surprised.
Atlantica Online is one of the first MMO games aspiring to be a true hybrid between the real-time strategy genre and role playing. It’s a lofty goal that in many ways is accomplished. There are, however some niggling frustrations that will hopefully be cleared up during the next ten days’ beta testing.
Logging into Atlantica Online has been an experience I could do without ever again. Reaching the log in screen is quick and efficient and packed with great looking images. Every time I hoped it would be better and I excitedly plucked out my name and password. But hopes were dashed every time and I found I could watch a 100 yard dash in the local snail Olympics, come back and the game would still be sitting there ‘trying to connect to the server’. Admittedly, this will be a must do bug fix for developers and

Come on, honey, why do you have to be like that? You know that you’re my Elven princess. My one and only. I would dare say that there is no one in all the realm who doesn’t know of our love. I have sung your praises from the mouth of the Shadowthread Cave to the Stranglethorn Vale of the Eastern Kingdoms. I’ve introduced you to my comrades-in-arms in the Ulster guild, and they all accept you as kin.
And now you want to dissolve the greatest love ever to brighten my basement?
When we met, I was looking for a group fit to take the Zul’Gurub instance. But as I stocked up on provisions at the convenience store before my quest, and our eyes locked, I realized that I was not looking for a group, I was looking for love, and I found it in you. You are the sun, the moon, the Cinderhide Armsplints of the Monkey. There is so much we have to offer one another. Unfailing loyalty, a Strength of 250, someone who can go out for snacks in the heat of battle. Can’t you see we’re made for each other?
Darling, no orc can keep me from you. I would make my way into the
