Sometimes it takes a new character to rekindle your passion for the game. Daryi of Ghostlands has recently started working on a little priest to complement her hunter main, and she’s been noticing the beauty of the lower level scenery. “On the ferry from Darkshore to Teldrassil, I noticed the overabundance of pink, and the screenshot was born. I’m sure anyone watching me thought I was insane, as I stayed on the boat for five trips there and back to get the best image I could.”

In the interest of full disclosure, I will admit that the choice of this storm-giant-plus-dude-giving-the-metal-horns screenshot was made under the influence of high doses of Brutal Legend. It was sent in several months ago by Jearen of <I Shoulda Been Horde> on Rexxar, a character which seems to have disappeared in the time since this picture was taken. With that guild name, I’m guessing he probably transferred factions.

Just like the Primal Ooze from Un’goro Crater — except less slimy and without bones sticking out of it — the World of Warcraft comic has split into two distinct books. Just as promised, the series from Wildstorm will now also feature Horde characters in addition to an Alliance story. BlizzPlanet reports that the two titles, dubbed World of Warcraft: Horde and World of Warcraft: Alliance, will kick off on January 6 and 20, respectively. While the Horde comic starts off at Issue No. 1, the Alliance comic is starts at No. 26, seemingly picking up where the original series, which showcased Alliance faction leader Varian Wrynn, left off.
This should be great news for all comic fans, particularly Horde players, who haven’t had representation in Wildstorm’s take on the game world. World of Warcraft: Horde follows the story of an orc hunter named Malgar and his tauren ally — presumably an enhancement Shaman from the cover art — Ironhoof, which probably means they’ll fight over the same loot. Written by Doug Wagner and drawn by Batgirl artist Pop

Geekdom is much like any other group of people. There are movies, music, and literature which are considered classics and are generally accepted as having been seen, heard, or read by everyone at one point or another. Some of these are so accepted as classics that the idea someone is unfamiliar with them is simply “inconceivable” and we are left shocked when this occurs. Unfortunately, one of our own staff seems uninitiated in such classics.
While discussing some of the quests coming up in patch 3.3, we’d made a joke referencing the Knights who say “Ni!” from Monty Python’s Holy Grail. Our own Matt Low mentioned that he didn’t get whatever inside joke we were making. Much to our dismay, he had never seen the movie or any Monty Python for that matter. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords for daily quests wouldn’t get a chuckle from him. Terry Palin in Elwynn Forest quoting the lumberjack song is also lost on him. He wouldn’t even be that concerned about eating the Crunchy Frog available from Darkmoon Faire because he

Fire mages are ablaze with joy over today’s patch 3.3 PTR build, frost mages are a little iffy, and arcane is… pretty much completely untouched! Let’s skip over any additional preamble and dig right in. Do note, however, that some of this is so far unconfirmed and comes from datamining. Considering these changes come from the PTR, any of it could change before patch 3.3 goes live.
Fire
Improved Scorch: The debuff from this talent no longer stacks, and instead can apply the full effect from a single cast of Scorch.
Glyph of Improved Scorch now increases the damage of your Scorch spell by 20%.
This is going to make a lot of raiding mages very happy. It essentially normalizes the debuff to match equivalent debuffs, like Improved Shadow Bolt. Streamlining an unnecessarily complicated debuff is a great thing. It’ll lift a needless burden from mage DPS. And yes, there are mages getting drunk in celebration this evening. It’s somewhat disturbing, really.
Frost
Frozen Core now also causes your Ice Lance criticals to reduce the cast time of your next Frostbolt or

Jim, formerly of <Game Over> on Perenolde, sends in this years-old shot straight from the WABAC Machine. Just after the opening of Ahn’Qiraj, <Game Over> ventured into the temple in search of glory and epic loots. Jim snapped this picture of warrior Ata battling an oversized Anubisath warrior. Remember, tanks, turning off your “show helmet” graphic leaves your head vulnerable to attacks from giant hammers.

Today’s question is possibly a strange one: what’s this game’s Holy Grail? You know, the Holy Grail is that Arthurian object that you continually quest for — if ever you actually reach the Holy Grail, you know that your quest, whatever it is, is finally at an end. So what’s the Holy Grail for World of Warcraft, the thing that, if we ever actually reached it in the game, would change things forever?
When we posted the rumor that Gnomeregan would finally be retaken, I thought of this — Gnomeregan has been, since the beginning of the game, a place that’s generally off-limits to lore and change. The Gnomes are pretty much defined by not having a city, and if they were actually to take back and reclaim their home city, Ironforge wouldn’t be the same, and once you’ve messed with Ironforge, then WoW, to me, is fundamentally changed. Same thing if they ever include cross-faction communication — this game is so defined from the core as a game with two factions separate from each other that if they ever did allow us to speak across
